ICAW Poster Contest

Call for Entries: The International Compost Awareness Week Committee invites YOU to get involved in ICAW 2019. We’re looking for anyone interested in participating in our 17th Annual Poster Contest. The winning poster will be used to promote International Compost Awareness Week, May 5 -11, 2019.

POSTER THEME: Cool the Climate – Compost!

The contest runs from September 1 until November 5, 2018 and is open to anyone who wishes to share their artistic creativity to promote this year’s theme. The winning poster will serve as the promotional piece to share nationwide the 2019 International Compost Awareness Week theme. We invite municipal, facility or state agency representatives, industry professionals, students, youth groups, commercial composters, green industry businesses, gardeners, environmentalists, EVERYONE, to join in the fun Whether or not you have celebrated or been involved in ICAW in the past, we want you to participate this year. The contest is open to anyone ten years old and up from anywhere in the world.

The 2019 ICAW theme, “Cool the Climate – Compost!” recognizes the connection between soil health and the climate. Soil plays an important role in our environment. Healthy soil is at the heart of planetary, agricultural and human health. This year’s theme highlights that soil management practices with compost is key to soil health and migrating climate change. By composting, we return nutrients to the soil, help capture carbon from the atmosphere, resist drought and disease and provide fresh air.

It’s easy to enter! Here’s how it works: The poster contest winner will have his/her poster reproduced and distributed to thousands nationwide. It will be the official 2019 International Compost Awareness Week poster and featured on the CCREF website as well as on the US Composting Council website too. The winning “poster artist” will have his/her name posted on the CCREF website and will be included on all print material and in any press releases in association with our annual ICAW celebration.

The successful poster winner will receive a $500 prize. The contest is open to anyone from ten years old to adult. There are 3 contest divisions: grades 3-7, grades 8-12, and college – adult. The best from each division will be entered into the final contest. The winning design will be chosen before the end of the year.

The contest begins on September 1, 2018 and continues until November 5, 2018.

Inspire Awards for Class 6-10 Students by DST, Govt. of India

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) is implementing a national program Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) for attracting talented young students to study Science and pursue career in Research. This Program is being implemented since 2009-10.

INSPIRE aims to identify, sustain and strengthen human capacity for Research and Development base of the country. Inspired research achieved by means of an innovative scientific pursuit is the objective of this flagship scheme of the DST. INSPIRE Program covers students in the age group 10-32 years. It has five components spread over in three major schemes. These are:

i. Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (SEATS) – INSPIRE Award and INSPIRE Internship,
ii. Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) – INSPIRE Scholarship, and
iii. Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC) – INSPIRE Fellowship and INSPIRE Faculty Awards.

The first component i.e. INSPIRE Award MANAK ( Million Minds Augmenting National Aspiration and Knowledge) scheme, previously known as INSPIRE Award Scheme, is being implemented through State and UT governments with objectives (i) to attract young students to study science and pursue research career (ii) to promote creative thinking and foster a culture of innovation among them.

Under INSPIRE Award MANAK scheme, in a financial year, ten (10.0) lakh ideas are being targeted from more than five (05) lakh middle and high schools across the country, out of which one (1.0) lakh ideas are to be shortlisted for an initial award of Rs. 10000/- each, for preparation of project/model/showcasing of idea and participation in the District Level Exhibition & Project Competition (DLEPC). The students who are eligible to participate under this scheme should be in the age group of 10-15 years studying in class VI to X. The award money under this scheme is being transferred directly into the bank accounts of the students through Direct Benefit Transfer. The selected students in DLEPCs participate at State Level Exhibitions and winners of State Level Exhibitions further participate in the National Level Exhibition organized every year. The participants of the National Level Exhibition are also provided mentorship for prototype development in association with reputed science and technological institutions of the country. All middle and high schools of the country whether Government, private, semi-private, aided, un-aided are eligible to nominate 2-3 students from their schools, during a financial year, along with all the details including a brief write-up of the idea of the student. The short listing of students for INSPIRE award MANAK and mentoring will be provided by National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Ahemdabad, a autonomous organization of DST, based on the idea submitted by the student.

Youva Master Stroke- drawing competition

Youva Master Stroke is an exclusive drawing competition that offers students from Nursery to Class 10, an opportunity to showcase their creativity on national scale. Last year, over 27 lakh students from 7792+ schools participated in this mega competition. For this year’s participation, Online Registration last date will be 15th August,2018. Each school must complete the school level competition which is to be held in the school campus before 15th August,2018. The winners of this stage will go on to compete at district, state and national level.

How to Participate

  • The competition will be conducted strictly through schools. No individual entry will be accepted.
  • Schools which have already participated in last year’s Master Stroke Competition can register online with their assigned School ID and follow the instructions. The existing information about these schools can be updated if required.
  • Schools which are participating for the first time, need to fill a simple online registration form.
  • Total groupwise participation data should be uploaded by all schools on the website by 30th August,2018.

Judging Process

  • School winners will be decided by school drawing teachers. They have to choose one best entry from each group to compete for the District Level competition.
  • Last date for submitting School Level entry is 15th September,2018.
  • The Navneet representative will collect all these entries and submit at the Navneet Premise.
  • From these entries, District Level winners will be decided by a panel of judges at Navneet Education Limited.
  • Schools of District Level winners will be informed for the State Level drawing competition by 15th October,2018 and the competition will be conducted before 10th November, 2018 at the school premise.
  • All schools will have to send their State Level participating entry to – Youva Master Stroke 2018, Navneet Education Limited, Stationery Division, Navneet House, Gurukul Road, Opp.Vijaya Bank, Memnagar, Ahmedabad – 380052.
  • The last date of submission for the State Level participating entry will be 20th November,2018.
  • Final Round winners will be declare by December,2018 1st prize and 1st & 2nd runner-up prizes will be rewarded to each of the three groups. There will be a total of 3 mega prizes and 6 runner-up prizes.

Rules

Below are some important details every participating school must read.

General

  • Student can participate by drawing on the last page of the Drawing Book ( School ID – Mandatory ).
  • Schools below 100 students participants won’t be eligible for the Hampers & Drawing teachers gifts . But students will get the opportunity to go further for next District level .
  • Schools will receive the gifts ( Hampers & Drawing teachers gift ) , only after submission of the SCHOOL WINNERS / HAMPERS WINNERS ( ENVELOPE ) & actual entries as well to our sales representative.
  • School level competitions must be conducted before 15th August, 2018.
  • Participation is valid through Youva Drawing Book page.

Instructions for Teachers

Registration Process

  • If your school has participated in last year’s Master Stroke , you will need to login using your School ID (Navneet representative will be there to assist you in this process). We have sent you one time password on your registered email id or mobile number and using this password, you can login again and update information for participation in the year 2018.
  • If your school is participating for the first time, all you need to do is fill a simple online registration form.
  • Once your school has registered, you may conduct the competition at your convenience. Last date for conducting the competition in schools is 15th August, 2018.

Post Competition Process

  • The role of the drawing teachers of each school is as follows:
    • Select groupwise hamper winners in ratio 40:1 (For every group, Navneet will provide 1 gift hamper on every 40 physical entries in the School Level competition).
    • Pick 1 school winner from each group.
    • Update groupwise details of actual number of participants.
    • Drawing teachers are requested to keep all entries separately in the following order –
      • Groupwise hamper winners
      • Groupwise school winners
      • All the entries from 3 Groups (other than hamper winners & school winners)
  • The above mentioned entries will be collected by a Navneet representative once your school is done hosting the competition.
  • Schools below 100 students participants won’t be eligible for the Hampers & Drawing teachers gifts . But students will get the opportunity to go further for next District level.
  • Schools will receive the gifts ( Hampers & Drawing teachers gift ) , only after submission of the SCHOOL WINNERS / HAMPERS WINNERS ( ENVELOPE ) & actual entries as well to our sales representative.
